MAKILA is looking for mentors for its 2024-2025 Inkubator program!

What

Makila, a nonprofit solidarity cooperative dedicated to the inclusion and professionalization of filmmakers who are primarily underrepresented in the audiovisual industry, is seeking mentors for the third edition of its Inkubater & Cuban Hat Pitch program.

The Program:

This comprehensive and structured program includes networking and mentorship activities, organized to help cultural enterprises become eligible for SODEC’s Programme d’aide à la création émergente.

Individual mentorship sessions will take place between September 2024 and February 2025. To best support our participants, mentor and filmmaker pairings will be based on their backgrounds, artistic affinities, and the formats of the selected projects. The projects for this edition include: fiction, documentary, long and short formats, as well as linear and experiential works.

As a mentor, you will play a key role by offering personalized guidance to filmmakers to help refine and structure their projects.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • - Guide a filmmaker in the development of their project through four (4) individual meetings.
  • - Provide critical feedback on key documents, such as the synopsis, treatment, and revised versions.
  • - Summarize feedback after each meeting in the format of your choice (bullet points, summary, prose, etc.).

Meetings can be held online or in person, depending on the availability and preferences of both mentors and filmmakers.

A stipend is provided for mentoring filmmakers.
